Akad @ Moorland Hall, Devon, UK

From 20 to 30 April we (the 19 students of 4e and our teachers Prof. Schoeppl and Prof. Watzl) experienced an unforgettable 10-day-language trip to Moorland Hall on the verge of Dartmoor National Park in Devon and adjacent Cornwall in the southwest of England.

Dartmoor National Park, with its rolling hills, lush meadows, and meandering rivers, provided a stunning backdrop for our language course and numerous fun activities. The serene environment and fresh air stimulated our spirits, making the learning experience even more enjoyable. In our language classes at Moorland Hall, we were guided through interactive lessons, from grammar exercises to lively discussions, we improved our language skills as well as our fluency in English.

Outside the classroom, we explored the stunning landscapes of Dartmoor, the charming village of Mary Tavy, interacting with friendly locals eager to help us practice our language skills.

Additionally, we ventured into Cornwall, a region known for its rugged coastline, golden sandy beaches, and historical landmarks. We explored the picturesque towns of Bude and Looe, soaking up the coastal beauty and indulging in the region’s famous Cornish pasties. In addition, our ambitious sports programme let us explore the surf at Widemouth Bay, experience stunning coastal walks, try out new sports like archery, high ropes, adventurous tours on mountain bikes as well as play a game of Croquet on Moorland Hall’s front lawn.

Overall, our language trip to Devon, Dartmoor and Cornwall was a perfect blend of language learning, sports activities, cultural immersion, and natural beauty. It allowed us to enhance our language skills, experience the warmth of the local community, and marvel at the breath-taking landscapes.
