Our year 6 classes witnessed an impressive minimalist production of „On the Brink“ by the Vienna English Theatre.

Year 6 classes of our school went to see the English play „On the brink“ at the ARGEkultur. The plot follows the niece of an oil company owner who becomes a climate activist and is sentenced to death after a protest. With only four actors, the minimalist setup was impressive, and the plot kept the audience on edge with a shocking ending. The theatre’s message cautioned against going overboard, but was open to interpretation.

The acting was phenomenal and the lighting extraordinary, with the person in charge adjusting it to the situation. The actors from the Vienna English Theatre stayed calm and delivered their lines brilliantly, making for a total success. It was a great experience for year 6 classes to see such impressive acting and minimalist set design.

The play draws inspiration from Sophocles‘ Antigone, which adds depth and resonance to its themes. It was a gripping theatrical experience, and the actors‘ ability to deliver their message under pressure was amazing. In conclusion, „On the brink“ by the Vienna English Theatre is a must-see play that will keep you on edge and deliver a shocking ending, making it an unforgettable experience.
